About Yoga
Research shows that yoga can have many benefits to health and wellbeing, through practising skills that promote resilience, connection and reflection
Yoga is an ancient system with a rich philosophy, that aims to bring unity and peace to the mind, body and spirit. Learning and practising yoga can have strong wellbeing benefits in our present day too
There is plenty to learn! This can include movement, study, meditation, mindfulness and breathwork (pranayama) as tools to help us embody the principles and values of yoga
About me
I have a strong commitment to social wellbeing, social justice and to developing respect, care and compassion for ourselves in order to be able to share this with our world
Perhaps this is due to spending my whole working life in the health and social care sector. Though my feeling is that it’s part of who I am, thanks to my life experiences, my amazing mum and my big and beautifully diverse family. We have roots in Punjab in the north of India and blend this with our Scottish upbringings
I find I can be most myself when I’m able to live a life aligned with my own values. I invest time in grassroots activism, community groups and in trying to learn as much as possible about different perspectives and experiences
This brings a lot of light into my life - alongside time spent with my loyal bestie Saski, my friends and family
I feel my best when I've spent plenty of time in nature, hiking or relaxing in Argyll, travelling and immersing myself in new cultures, and of course when practising yoga
Yoga for me
Yoga values largely align with my own and I believe they provide a sound framework for learning about living a fulfilling life
I have been practising yoga for over 17 years, having first tried a Vinyasa Flow class with an amazing teacher at my local gym
In 2016, I completed 200 hours yoga teacher training at CYS in Glasgow, where I learned from hugely experienced and knowledgeable teachers at Merchant City Yoga
Since then, I have completed additional training regularly, including in yoga sequencing and adjustments, Yin Yoga teaching, Trauma Informed Yoga (Edinburgh Community Yoga), yoga philosophy, and how to ensure I can share yoga’s rich lineage in our practices. I loved learning about mantra, meditation and mudras in a post qualifying course with Tiwari Yoga.
I'm a trained pregnancy and post natal yoga teacher, having learned with the wonderful Nourish Yoga School in 2025 and in 2026 I’ll be starting a journey into the 300 hour yoga training course offered by Janet Stone.
You can probably tell that I love studying yoga and consider myself to be a forever student. I hope this brings something new to our classes.
Yoga for us
It is my intention to create inclusive yoga spaces - I can’t promise that I’ll always gets this right, but I can promise that I will always value you, respect you and do the best that I can
I teach different styles of yoga. Ashtanga and Vinyasa yoga are dynamic practices - some breathwork, then movement, always ending with relaxation. These can be physically dynamic practices so I try to offer a range of options to suit different levels
I love teaching Yin Yoga - breathwork, long holds in postures and relaxation. This can be a deep practice physically, though there are options for softer variations
I also offer a Yoga Fundamentals class - a good introduction or reintroduction to yoga and a space to take your time and explore the postures, breathwork and meditation. We link yoga philosophy and core principles into this class a lot and I think it makes for a really special hour each week. This is a suitable practice for pregnant people, people returning to practice after a while and for all different bodies.
I recommend trying different styles of yoga, to find what works for you. If these styles aren’t for you, I can recommend some that might be
